My word for 2024 is GROW, but the word begs a couple questions. The first is: Can I grow?
Reflexively, you might respond, “yes!”
So let me clarify: Do I believe I can grow?
That one’s a little harder, isn’t it?
It’s especially hard if you’re stuck in a bad habit or sin, or if you’ve had a goal for a really, really long time and it’s always just out of reach no matter how hard you try.
But, after some contemplation, I’ve come to the conclusion that I do believe I can grow despite all that.
Why?
Because Joseph went from spoiled, obnoxious favorite-son to mature, forgiving second-in-command of Egypt.
Because Peter went from denier to martyr.
Because Jesus grew in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and man. (Luke 2:52)
Ok, so, I believe I can grow. The question now is: How?
